What kind of graphic design services does Bulb Graphics offer?
We specialize in publication designs like programs, reports, magazines, and brochures. We also create other marketing collateral—posters, ads, fact sheets, e-learning elements, logos, and graphics that are optimized for social media. In fact, if you bring us your idea, we’ll do our best to transform it into the thought-provoking, promotional piece you envision with a focus on making sure your visual brand is cohesive. We do not offer website design or coding as a service.

How do you charge?
Bulb Graphics charges by the hour.
How did you come up with your hourly rate?
Our pricing is based on a general formula (hourly rate x average number of hours of creative labor) in conjunction with consideration of common pricing and ethical guidelines as outlined in the latest edition of the Graphic Artists Guild Handbook: Pricing & Ethical Guidelines and Salary.com. Creative labor includes but is not limited to project meetings, concept development or tweaking, image manipulation, text formatting, revisions requested by the client, layout, and design, design review, print research, color matching and selection, file packaging and delivery, and file rendering.
How long have you been doing design?
Twenty-seven years. Joey Johnson, the woman behind Bulb Graphics, started selling graphic services in 1996 when she was still a student in art school. She officially started the company in 1998. This year will mark 27 years of service.
What is your educational background?
Joey earned her Associate’s in Visual Communications from the Art Institute of Atlanta in 1998. She also trained in Film and Video Production at Georgia State University.
How does the design process work?
The design process has roughly 10 steps that are divided into the pre-design phase, the design phase, the proofing phase, and the finalization phase. Learn more about the design process.
How do revisions work?
BG offers three editorial rounds per project design. Clients can request additional rounds at the standard hourly base rate. One email containing edits is considered one round. You can request as many as ten revisions in one email/round of edits.
Do you build websites or code?
No. Our wheelhouse is traditional graphic design.
Why is branding important?
A visual brand is a big part of your marketing strategy. It’s important because it’s made up of all the visual elements (colors, fonts, and images) you use to represent your business. It reflects your vision and mission and helps to streamline marketing in a way that a fragmented visual identity cannot. It also highlights your professionalism and helps clients to recognize and remember your business.
